The Director General, Lagos State Safety Commission, Mr. Lanre Mojola, said the facilities were shut in the interest of public safety, further to the mandate to ensure safety of lives and property.
He said the commission aimed to achieve zero accidents in workplaces and public facilities.
Mojola said the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration had zero tolerance for violation of safety laws and would monitor such facilities to ensure compliance with laid down safety laws.
He decried the presence of underage persons at nightclubs, saying it was against the law to allow the presence of minors at nightclubs.
Mojola said club frontages had been turned to drug sale outlets and mandated the use of proper signages to convey the message of no drugs, no firearms and no underage persons to club goers.
He advised event centre owners to obtain event safety permit through the website www. lasgsafetyreg.com
